The KAAGNY students meet for the orientation of the Summer Program.

In July, KAAGNY launched its Summer Internship & Leadership Program for high school students.

The Summer Program is two-pronged, with the Leadership Program that emphasizes education and group-oriented discussions, and the Internship Program that offers selected students in-person experience working in a non-profit organization.

Topics that have been covered thus far are Asian American history and activism, the Los Angeles Riots, and how to challenge the model minority myth. Future topics include protest and activism in South Korean history, a Career Forum with Asian American young professionals, and a presentation day where the Leadership Program students will share their capstone essays.

This summer, Program Directors Eri Kim and Elizabeth Yoon are joined by facilitators Lana Kim and Grace Lim, two former students of the KAAGNY summer program, who assist in leading group discussions with the high school students.
